Inflation in the UK rises to double digits again

Consumer inflation in the UK has risen again to a 40-year peak with 10.1 percent. Consumer inflation in the UK reached double digits with 10.1 percent in September. The expectation was that inflation would rise to 10 percent in September.

Inflation in the UK was announced as 9.9 percent in August and  10.1 percent in July. Producer inflation, which was 16.4 percent in August, fell to 15.9 percent in the country. The expectation was that producer inflation would decline to 15.7 percent.

STEPS FROM THE CENTRAL BANK AGAINST INFLATION

The Bank of England (BoE) had raised its policy interest rate by 50 basis points to a 14-year peak of 2.25 percent last month to curb inflation.
