Inflation in Turkey: Tomato, fruit and vegetable prices break records

VEGETABLE TOMATO PRICES TURKEY

Antalya Commodity Exchange announced the “Vegetable and Fruit Index”. Changes in annual price indices in January were a record for 8 years for fruit, while the highest figures for tomatoes after last year and the highest figures for vegetables after 2019 and 2021 were reflected.

Based on data issued by Vegetable Wholesale Market (of Antalya) monthly indices for tomato and vegetable decreased by 4.84, 1.92 respectively according to previous month while same increased by 5.96 in fruit prices. The quantity indices decreased by 19.47 percent in tomatoes, 6.09 percent in vegetables and 7.95 percent in fruits compared to the same month of last year (year-on-year).

The annual changes in the indices in January were in the averages of the last 8 years for the quantity of tomatoes, vegetables and fruits. Changes in annual price indices were a record for 8 years for fruit, while the highest figures were reflected for tomatoes after last year and the highest figures for vegetables after 2019 and 2021
