Inflation: Monthly change in CPI sees 1,03% in September 2012

Monthly change in CPI was realised by 1,03%.

A rise in general index was realised in the 2003 based Consumer Price Index on the previous month by 1,03%, on December of the previous year by 3,34%, on same month of the previous year by 9,19%, on the twelve months moving averages basis by 9,53% in September 2012.

The highest monthly increase was 2,26% in the index for miscellaneous goods and services by main expenditure groups. The indices rose for food and non-alcoholic beverages 2,14%, for transportation 1,65%, for communication 1,54%, for hotels, cafes and restaurants 1,48%, for housing 0,82%, for alcoholic beverages and tobacco 0,29%, for furnishings and household equipment 0,24%, for recreation and culture 0,09%, for health 0,05%, while the index declined for education -1,19%, for clothing and footwear -2,62%.

The highest increase was 18,88% in the index for alcoholic beverages and tobacco compared with the same month of the previous year. Housing (12,05%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (10,39%), hotels, cafes and restaurants (9,74%) were the other indices where high increases were realised.

The highest monthly increase in CPI by regional basis was in TR90 (Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Rize, Artvin, Gümüşhane) region (1,56%). The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TRA2 (Ağrı, Kars, Iğdır, Ardahan) region (4,13%) compared with the December of the previous year, TR83 (Samsun, Tokat, Çorum, Amasya) region (9,86%) compared with the same month of the previous year and in TR71 (Kırıkkale, Aksaray, Niğde, Nevşehir, Kırşehir) region (11,13%) on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In September 2012 within average prices of 444 items in the index, average prices of 74 items remained unchanged while average prices of 275 items increased and average prices of 95 items decreased.
