Social media platforms Instagram and Facebook experienced a global accessibility issue, leaving millions of users unable to access the platforms. The reason for the disruption was not disclosed, but it was resolved after a two-hour interruption.

According to Downdetector, a monitoring site for outages, millions of users were unable to access the platforms during the outage. Users reported receiving messages indicating they couldn’t log into their accounts or were logged out involuntarily.

The accessibility issue on both platforms was resolved hours later.

‘Outage is globally sourced’

Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, made the following statement on the matter through his X account:

“After examinations conducted by our National Cyber Incident Response Center, it was determined that the service interruption on Instagram and Facebook was globally sourced.”

A noteworthy post came from Social Media Platform X regarding the issue on the two major platforms. The official account of X used the expression, “We know why you’re all here.” Elon Musk also made a statement, saying, “If you’re reading this post, it means our servers are working.”
