Weather: Heavy rainfall begins in Istanbul

Heavy rainfall that started in the northern parts of the city around 05:00 in the morning is continuing intermittently in Istanbul.

Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ekrem İmamoğlu, had warned the citizens at the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) yesterday, saying, “Tonight, from 9-10 onwards, please take precautions as much as possible. If you don’t have an urgent situation, avoid going out by car, and if you have past experiences in your apartment or building in this regard, take your precautions.”

The rainfall that began in the northern parts of the city around 05:00 in the morning is continuing intermittently throughout the entire Anatolian side. The precipitation is particularly affecting districts such as Ümraniye, Beykoz, Çekmeköy, and Sancaktepe.

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s traffic application, the overall traffic congestion was measured at 18% as of 06:30.
