ACCIDENTS DURING HOLIDAY

Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 19 people had lost their lives in traffic accidents during the first 3 days of the holiday, with 2,912 people injured. He said “Our speed controls with RADAR continue throughout the holiday; our checks will continue on a 24-hour basis.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made a statement on social media regarding the accidents that had occurred during the first 3 days of the holiday.

19 DECEASED, 2,912 INJURED!

Yerlikaya shared the following information regarding the citizens injured and deceased:

“Our speed controls with RADAR continue throughout the holiday; our checks will continue on a 24-hour basis.

On the 3rd day of the holiday, April 8, 2024, Monday; 615 traffic accidents occurred, 360,495 vehicles were inspected, speed and radar processes were applied to 20,142 vehicles, and other processes were carried out on 37,830 vehicles.

In the first 3 days of the holiday (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday), a total of 1838 traffic accidents occurred. Unfortunately, 19 of our citizens lost their lives. 2,912 of our citizens were injured. I extend my condolences to the families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

Our inspections have one goal. It is for the citizens returning from the holiday to reunite with their families safely. Please let’s not exceed the speed limit. Let’s not forget to wear seat belts in our vehicles and buses. Let’s abide by traffic rules.”
