EXPORTS TO ISRAEL BANNED

The Ministry of Trade announced that restrictions on the export of certain products to Israel would be imposed starting from April 9, 2024. The restriction decision regarding Israel covers 54 product groups ranging from construction iron to flat steel, marble to ceramics.

The Ministry of Trade announced today that export to Israel had been restricted for the designated products starting from today. According to the statement made by the Ministry, the requirements of this decision will be immediately enforced by the Ministry of Trade. The restrictions imposed will remain in effect until Israel declares an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and allows sufficient and uninterrupted aid.

The statement provided the following information:

“Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been carrying out a wholesale massacre against innocent Palestinian people and civilian settlements in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 33,000 of our Palestinian brothers and sisters and injuries to hundreds of thousands. The vast majority of these are women and children. The Gaza Strip has been destroyed, suffering immense devastation.

The Palestinian people struggling to survive in the Gaza Strip are facing unprecedented hunger and deprivation in our era, and Israel is preventing them from accessing basic foodstuffs, medical aid, and supplies. Deaths from starvation are increasing, and epidemic diseases are spreading.

Since October 7, 2023, Turkey has made the highest-level political and diplomatic efforts, both domestically and internationally and within the Islamic world, to stop the conflict, prevent humanitarian losses and physical destruction, prioritize permanent ceasefire and diplomatic solutions, and rebuild Gaza.

TURKEY HAS DELIVERED TONS OF AID TO INCLUDE FOOD AND MEDICAL STUFF TO THE REGION

Turkey has rushed to Gaza and the aid of the people of Gaza after Israel’s attacks began, delivering tens of thousands of tons of aid, including food, health, medical assistance, and the evacuation of thousands of patients, by ships and planes, and has been one of the leading countries in this field worldwide.

However, Israel continues to blatantly violate international law, ignoring numerous calls from the international community for political and legal ceasefires and uninterrupted humanitarian aid.

ISRAEL HAS IGNORED ALL DECISIONS TAKEN BY UNITED NATIONS AND ALIKE

Israel has unfortunately not implemented any decisions taken in this regard by the United Nations Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the UN Human Rights Council, and the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

In this context,

• United Nations Security Council Resolutions 2728, 2720, and 2712
• United Nations General Assembly Resolutions ES-10/21 and ES-10/22
• United Nations Human Rights Council Resolution A/HRC55/L.30
• Provisional measures taken by the International Court of Justice in The Hague on January 26 and March 28, 2024, in the case of violation of the genocide convention by Israel,

Have very clearly obliged Israel to reach a ceasefire and, in full cooperation with the UN, allow uninterrupted provision of all essential humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including medical supplies and health services they need.

Especially resolutions of the UN Security Council and the International Court of Justice are legally binding.

Turkey has repeatedly stated that it would follow up on the implementation of all these decisions.

In this regard, Turkey has decided to restrict the export of products falling under the product groups specified in the Annex to Israel, starting from April 9, 2024. The requirements of this decision will be immediately enforced by the Ministry of Trade.
