Internal Affairs Ministry issues new rules regarding district markets

In addition to the measures taken to minimize the negative effects of coronavirus (Kovid-19) outbreak, which affects the whole world, the Interior Ministry has re-organized the rules to be followed in neighborhood/district market places in cities, districts and towns. The circular containing the said rules was sent to the governorates.

According to the circular, the sale of non-essential necessities such as clothing, toys, etc. will not be allowed in the markets where the basic food/cleaning needs of citizens such as “vegetables, fruits, cereals, pulses, cleaning materials are sold.

– The activities of all markets where the sale of clothing, toys, ornaments, bags etc.in exhibitions and stalls are sold , will be stopped temporarily as of 17: 00 on 27.03.22020.

– In markets where basic food/cleaning items are sold alternative measures will be planned regarding places and days, by governorates in coordination with municipalities, in order to reduce the concentration rate of transmission of the virus without limiting access of citizens to concerned products.

– New market/sales places can be determined according to the needs of the citizens living in the province, district and town in order to meet the basic food/cleaning materials by taking into account the density at the existing markets.

– Within the scope of the measures to be taken regarding the markets, measures may be taken regarding the access of citizens to basic food/cleaning materials, provision of services directly by the municipalities, to be in the first place

– The sales points will be organized in such as way that at least 3 meters distance between each counter will be left.
