Coronavirus to cause unemployment for over one million in aviation sector

Experts comment that over a million people working in the aviation sector worldwide could be unemployed due to the new type Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. They say “The sector is under risk and going towards the point of collapsing indicating that experts are looking for formulas to run the system with fewer employees. Unions in many countries have revolted. State aid is required for the aviation sector in each country, and work is expected to start with a reset of taxes to zero”.

On the other hand professionals also comment that the aviation sector had never fallen into such a dramatic situation, including in major economic crises. They note that the deadly epidemic has messed up not just air traffic, or airlines, but also aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, catering companies, airport businesses, aircraft engine manufacturers, maintenance companies, all over the world.

As countries close their borders one by one and airlines can fly in tight spaces hundreds of planes have already landed. More than half of the world’s airlines have put their fleets in airport aprons and are waiting.

A lot of money is being spent on planes to fly disinfection to be in the first place, but the income loss is continually growing. While average of 16-17 thousand aircraft used to fly around the world, this is now down by more than half.
