ISRAELI FLIGHTS TO TURKEY EL AL

El Al Israel Airlines has announced the resumption of commercial flights to Turkey after a gap of 16 years. Flights operated by El Al’s subsidiary Sun dOr have resumed with 3 round trips per week between Tel Aviv and Istanbul as of March 30.

El Al had stopped flights to Turkey in March 2007 due to high security costs. Flights only realized with Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines since 2007, have resumed with increasing demand from Israeli passengers after the normalization of diplomatic relations.

It was stated that the number of flights planned 3 times a week would be increased to 4 in the coming period.

Turkish Ambassador to Israel Sakir Ozkan Torunlar explained that the resumption of flights strengthened the partnership and relationship between the two countries.

According to Israeli Tourism Minister Haim Katz, direct flights are expected to increase economic cooperation and tourism for the two countries.
