Minister of Tourism has made a statement sharing following: “When we look at the whole pandemic process, Turkey has managed the process well beyond many countries. We have managed to minimize the negative effects of this process thanks to our robust health infrastructure and security and social policies we have practiced. Certainly, the process is not over yet but we, as a state continue to take all kinds of measures.”

The Minister also said, “Tourism is certainly one of the sectors badly affected. But just like our robust health infrastructure, we are doing very well in tourism compared to many of the competing countries. The fact that our competitors in Europe, such as Spain, Italy, France and Greece, are among the countries most affected by the pandemic, and the effects still continue, clearly demonstrates Turkey’s favorable position.”

Regarding the second wave of covid-19 expected to hit Mr. ERSOY shared following:

“Every time I speak, I say the 2nd wave of corona is emerging more as an economic wave. The decisions taken by countries, and especially by European countries, are more political. The best example is the decision to restrict travel to Turkey, even though it is the country that manages this process best. The reason for this is eco-political. Tourism revenues are required to remain within the EU Tourism countries. They are trying to direct the tourist traffic through the decisions taken in this direction. But Turkey is proving how well it manages reporting across all criteria, especially the number of regional cases. Despite all the political decisions taken, we continue to make all kinds of initiatives.”
