Istanbul becomes a more popular destination for visitors from allover the world
It is reported that the number of foreign tourists visiting ISTANBUL has gone up by 16 percent in the first 11 months of this year.
Istanbul one of the most mysterious and multicultured megapoles in the world has become more and more popular in the recent years in parallel to the increasing role Turkey plays in the world political arena, on top of the fact millions are now interested in discovering places other than London and Paris etc.
In fact, the number of foreign visitors increased to 7.5 million in the period of January to November 2011 from 6.5 million over the same period last year.
As for the composition of foreign visitors to Turkey, we see that Germans, Russians and Americans are in the first place and the number of visitors from Arab countries has grown fastest with an increase of 28.5 percent.
Among Arab countries visitors from Saudi Arabia increased the most by 71.3 percent, which was followed by Iraq with an increase of 64.7 percent, Kuwait, 61.5 percent and Lebanon, 40.7 percent.
On the other hand it is accepted that Turkey has so much more to do and offer foreign visitors, as it is in possession of an endless resource of historical places, beautiful sights and sun & sea holiday opportunites with some of the best beaches and landscape in the world.
Referring to touristic places in Turkey prominent destinations such as Bodrum, Fethiye (Dead Sea) Marmaris and Datça are the first to be recalled. However, Turkey offers so many more beautiful and relatively less crowded places such as SIĞACIK, AKARCA, ÖZDERE and very unique destinations such as SELÇUK (nearby Ephesus) etc in the Aegean region right to the south of Izmir and only within a distance of 50 km.
One will find beautiful blue-flag sea at those places, friendly people and sun and furthermore worth-seeing historical places such as Ephesus, Mother Mary’s house and plenty more
In any case, tourism now takes an important part in the Turkey’s revenues and it is very likely it is going to generate a revenue of US 50 billion in the very close future as targeted by the government.
It goes without saying Istanbul is an extraordinary destination for everyone to visit with so much to offer to see as it was the capital to 3 greatest empires througout history; Roman, Byzantium and Ottoman empires.
Moreover Istanbul has been attracting plenty of tourists thanks to the progress it has shown in the congress tourism.
