Istanbul Chamber of Commerce: Istanbul inflation rate is 76 percent

According to data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), the inflation rate in Istanbul for January was 6.72 percent, with an annual inflation rate of 76.17 percent.

The Istanbul Cost of Living Index, which is an indicator of retail price movements, increased by 6.72 percent compared to the previous month in January, while the Wholesale Commodity Prices Index, which reflects wholesale price movements, increased by 4.69 percent.

When these data are examined on an annual basis, it is observed that the increase rate is 76.17 percent for retail prices and 61.48 percent for wholesale prices.

In January, compared to the previous month, health and personal care group increased by 25 percent, transportation and communication by 20.67 percent, other expenses group by 8.94 percent, housing by 7.58 percent, food by 5.51 percent, household goods by 4.49 percent, and culture, education, and entertainment group by 2.81 percent, while clothing decreased by 3.87 percent.
