Istanbul Stock market closes at record high – February 1, 2024
The BIST 100 index on the Borsa Istanbul completed the day at 8,646.12 points with a 1.76 percent gain, achieving its highest closing in history. While the BIST 100 index increased by 149.46 points compared to the previous closing, the total trading volume was 113.1 billion Turkish liras.
The banking index gained 1.45 percent, and the holding index gained 2.84 percent.
Among the sector indices, the highest gainer was the mining sector with 3.64 percent, while the financial leasing factoring sector declined the most by 0.91 percent.
According to reports, analysts said that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s indication that it was too early to start interest rate cuts in March continued to affect global equity markets.
Analysts noted that resistance levels for the BIST 100 index tomorrow would be at 8,700 and 8,800, while support levels would be at 8,600 and 8,560 points.
