Tourism professional says hotel prices will Increase by 5-6 fold in 2024
Vice President of Alanya Tourism Operators (ALTİD) and Alanya Tourism and Promotion Foundation (ALTAV), stated that hotel prices would increase 5-6 times in 2024. Expressing that the economic effects of the pandemic are still ongoing and that this situation is most felt in hotels, he said that the increase in energy prices and exchange rates affected all expenditure items and raised prices in accommodation facilities. He stated in his announcement that it would be difficult for domestic tourists to go on holiday due to prices.
According to Business Travel News Europe, data provided by hotel analyst STR showed that the average daily rates (ADR) of hotels worldwide increased by 6.3 percent in July 2022 compared to the same month in 2022, with Europe recording the largest increase of 13.4 percent.
Prices in the summer of 2024 will be 5-6 times higher than in 2022
The experts also shared following; “It is reported that the inflation increase experienced worldwide after the pandemic continues to affect our lives in Turkey as well. While the excessive increase in energy prices affects Europe, the excessive increase in exchange rates in our country affects all our expenditure items. The increase in all sectors such as food, beverage, fuel, energy, textiles, etc., has raised prices in accommodation facilities. Prices that were twice as high as those seen in the summer of 2022 in 2023 will be 5-6 times higher in the summer of 2024.
There are indeed facilities that calculate costs realistically, as well as branded facilities that engage in opportunism. It is difficult for our citizens who buy holidays to distinguish between the two. The prices of facilities in regions with short seasons have increased even more. Frankly, it will become increasingly difficult for domestic tourists to go on holiday. Hopefully, our country’s economic conditions will become more stable soon, and at least we will be able to save money. People save money for holidays. Because vacation is one of the most natural needs of every person.”
