Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to provide two new services for citizens

Ekrem IMAMOGLU, mayor of Istanbul has announced that Halk Markets and Halk Restaurants will be opened in Istanbul soon. Imamoglu got together with employees working for the project called “People’s Milk” carried out to provide free milk for 100 thousand children in Istanbul each day.

Imamoglu called out to the women and transportation officials who are taking part in the project, which currently delivers milk to 100 thousand children a day, as “angels of help” and said, “We are touching a hundred thousand children with you. Not only do you touch a hundred thousand children, you make a hundred thousand mothers happy. As well as a hundred thousand mothers, you give hope to their immediate environment” he said.

Imamoglu, who gave the news that they would open “people’s markets” in many parts of Istanbul, also said that those in need would be able to shop with the cards given by the municipality in these markets. He went on to say, “We will mobilize people’s markets where our citizens can access healthy food in a way that “the giving hand does not see the receiving hand”.

Speaking about the “people’s restaurants” project, Imamoglu said, restaurants will be put into service where our students and citizens who have to live on limited budgest can eat healthy food. We will fight the poverty of this city in a durable way”.
