Istanbul Municipality increases water price by 25 percent
There was a flash development related to the water hike, which is of close interest to all Istanbulites. In the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Assembly, the decision to raise ISKI water prices by 25 percent was approved. Thus, there was a 25 percent increase in water in Istanbul.
So how much has the price of water in Istanbul raised?
HOW MUCH WAS THE WATER IN ISTANBUL?
ISKI (Istanbul Water Company) suggested
- 11.69 liras per residence up to should be increased to 16.95 TL with 45 percent
- 31.44 liras per business should be increased to 39.30, meaning 25 percent increase
- ISKI, suggested a 35 percent increase for the second 6 months of the year.
Another member (from AK Party) of the municipality parliament suggested 11.69 cubic meters should be 14.61 with 25 percent increase. For businesses he suggested and increase of 25 percent bringing the price of 31.44 to 39.30 TL. The proposal presented in this form was unanimously adopted in the Assembly.
So the new prices became as follows:
Houses: 14.61 per cubic meter (up to 15 cubic meters)
Businesses: 39.30 per cubic meter (up to 15)
