Governor’s office in Istanbul announces new measures to be applied in Istiklal Street
New measures were taken after the terrorist attack on Istiklal Street in Istanbul on November 13. Now it is forbidden to organize social, cultural and commercial events on the street. Street musicians will also not be allowed.
Two weeks ago, six people, two of them children, were killed and 81 people were injured after a bomb attack on Istiklal Street.
Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya issued a general order on ”measures to be taken to protect security, peace and public order on Istiklal Street, to accelerate the current pedestrian traffic flow”.
According to the order, tables, chairs, boards, mobile signs, etc. can be placed on the street by businesses on the street for any purpose on Istiklal Street. the establishment of stands, exhibitions, mobile sales and sales stalls, social, cultural or commercial events, collective or individual street music and performance performances and similar activities will not be allowed.
