The tourist season has already begun, and it seems that foreign guests are coming to Turkey intensively. Meanwhile, Russia which sends the highest number of tourists has informed Turkish authority about a very important demand they would like to be fulfilled.

It was stated that Russia would increase the flight capacity of Turkish Airlines only if Turkey granted the same right to Russian airlines companies. According to a prominent Russian newspaper, the balance agreement on flights between Turkey and Russia has been in force for a long time. However, in the current situation, Russian airline companies are at a disadvantage. It was noted that currently 290 flights were allowed to Turkish airlines companies and 122 to Russian airlines companies per week.

Same media outlet noted that the position of the Russian side on this issue was clear, as follows; “If Ankara follows the agreement and the balance is achieved in flights, the Russian side will not interfere with flights that Turkish Airlines will make from Russia to Turkey’s resorts.”

The newspaper also suggested that the Russian side had not reached an agreement on 70 percent of the number of flights requested by Turkish Airlines.
