“Istanbul Public Transportation” faces price hike

Public transportation in Istanbul has experienced an increase ranging from 18% to 28%. Accordingly, the full fare ticket price is now 17.70 Turkish liras, while the taxi starting fee has risen from 70 to 90 liras.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) approved a proposal for a 28.09% increase in taxi and shuttle fees and an 18% increase in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality public transportation vehicles at its January meeting with a majority vote.

With the implemented hike, the Istanbulkart full fare is raised from 15 to 17.70 liras, and the student ticket price goes up from 7.31 to 8.62 liras.

The Mavi Kart monthly price has increased from 1177 to 1388 liras, and the student monthly subscription price has been raised from 212 to 250 liras.

The full boarding fee for electronic tickets has increased to 20 liras. Students will now pay 8.62 liras.

Short-distance taxi fare at 90 liras

The taxi starting fee is 24.55 liras, and the per-kilometer fee is 17.61 liras.

The taxi indi-bindi fee has increased from 70 to 90 liras.

Minibus indi-bindi exceeds 15 liras

In minibus fares, the new tariff for indi-bindi is 15.50 liras, and for students, it is 10 liras.

Shuttle fees increased to a minimum of 1,665 liras

In shuttle fees, the shortest distance for school/student transportation has increased from 1,300 to 1,665 liras.

For personnel, it has risen from 675.84 to 865.69 liras. The price increases for shuttles will take effect from the second half of the year.”
