Istanbul stock market ends the day with sharp decline

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul ended the day at 3,199.54 points with a loss of 5.26 percent.

While the BIST 100 index decreased by 177.79 points compared to the previous close, the total trading volume was realized at the level of 54.2 billion liras.

The banking index lost 9.32 percent and the holding index lost 3.83 percent. Among the sector indices, the only gainer was electricity with 1.43 percent, and banking dropped down the most.

In the meantime, Borsa Istanbul AŞ announced that the transactions in all ranks of the share market had been temporarily stopped.

Analysts said that the negative course, which had been effective on global markets over the past week with inflationary pressures and an increased risk of recession, had also been effective at the beginning of the new week.
