Joint work of 3 ministries on rent increases

Rising rents all over Turkey, especially in Istanbul, are confronting tenants and landlords. Most often the dispute moves to court. As such, the three ministries announced that they had launched a legal study on the issue.

The dispute between renters and landlords over the hike is growing with rising inflation. Many homeowners want to move their tenants out of the house due to rising housing rents and buy new tenants at a high rents. It is observed that the owners of the houses send a notice of execution to remove the tenants from the house. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Justice have started work on regulation on rent increases. In order to avoid increases in rents and landlords evicting tenants from the house on various pretexts, the government has decided to take action.

THREE MINISTRIES START WORK

Minister of Justice Bozdag has said, “Environment, urbanization and climate change Ministry is working with the minister of Finance. As the Ministry of Justice, we are also contributing to these efforts” confirming that they have started working to prevent ‘opportunism” adding “I can state this much, if there is a reasonable formula that will protect both the landlord’s law and the tenant’s law, we can take steps with this formula.”
