Kestane Şekeri (Candied chestnuts) is a popular delicacy of Bursa one of the greenest and most beautiful and historical cities in Turkey.. Kestane şekeri is known to have been first started by Kafkas Company which is still the major brand in this market. Tender chestnuts are steeped in a sugary syrup and can be eaten alone or with clotted cream or ice cream.
The company was started by Ali Şakir Tatveren in Bursa in 1930. After his passing away his children took over and developed the business bringing in better facilities and introducing a wider product range. They also started franchising to make their products available allover Turkey. The company carries out its production at its 6,500 m2 indoor and 12,500 outdoor facilities under ISO 9001/2000 and ISO 22000 quality assurance.
