KILICDAROGLU, Turkey’s opposition leader very likely to run for presidency in 2023

According to information obtained from the CHP, main opposition party in Turkey, the long-standing nomination discussions in the CHP have ended. According to the party’s staff, Kılıçdaroğlu wants the nomination and there is no objection to it within the party. Based on information from the party members, the leaders at “six party table” (opposition group) will have the final say, now.

Earlier, it was claimed that there was a disagreement between KILICDAROGLU and IMAMOGLU (mayor of Istanbul) about the candidacy for a long time, within the party. It was noted that Imamoglu also warmly looked at the candidacy, and a group from within the party supported it.

As it looks now however, said issue seems to have been overcome now, following the flood incident in Istanbul. The fact that IMAMOGLU was not in Istanbul during the flood was the subject of criticism. It was learned that the CHP leader supported IMAMOGLU in these discussions and called him as well.

It was learned that CHP leader had informed IMAMOGLU that he ‘liked the management style and that the team work carried out in his absence’ during the meeting. IMAMOGLU thanked the CHP leader for his support and CHP leader also decided to share his ideas with the press after the meeting. After the meeting, the ice started to melt between the two. It was learned that IMAMOGLU also ‘offered his support for CHP leader’s candidacy’.

KILICDAROGLU IS SURE HE WILL WIN

One of the names close to KILICDAROGLU is said to have shared that candidacy of CHP leader was currently unchallenged within the party. According to this, IMAMOGLU, while maintaining his place as an important name for the leader, is a promising politician for the future.

According to same source(s), CHP leader also wants the nomination and is confident that he will win. All the staffs and organs of the party are also behind their leader in this nomination. Still, the last word will be said as a result of the ‘six table’ meetings.

The same source from CHP also has a prediction about the future of IMAMOGLU. He describes IMAMOGLU as one of the “most valuable projects” of the CHP leader: “Chairman of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has been one of his favorite names for KILICDAROGLU since the first day. He won’t be in the mayor’s chair forever, of course. I can safely say for myself that if our chairman decides to leave this seat one day, IMAMOGLU will be one of the most powerful candidates. But it’s too early to talk about it. Kemal Bey will be in his seat until the congress in order to strengthen our party during the transition process.”
