Locals complain Russians have entered boarding house and real estate business in Alanya
Russians have now entered the boarding house business in Alanya. Complaints that some Russians are illegally doing boarding business in the district for Russians via Whatsapp and Telegram groups, have increased.
After the intensive housing purchases of Arabs in the Black Sea, a similar picture is being experienced in the Mediterranean. Russians who have been in the first place in the sale of housing to foreigners in Antalya for many years and entered politics with the independent mayoral candidacy of Anastasia Petrova Cetinkaya a Russian-born Turkish citizen in Alanya district in 2019 have now started boarding houses for Russians. Complaints that some Russians are engaged in illegal real estate and boarding houses have been on the rise.
THE SECTOR IS IN THE HANDS OF THE RUSSIANS
Russians mainly use internet sites for renting or communicate only through Whatsapp and Telegram groups they have set up for this issue. Due to insufficient inspections, illegal housing rental in the district cannot be prevented.
Özgür Erbaş, President of the Alanya Real Estate Agents Association who said that complaints about illegal housing rentals had increased, also shared following: “Some Russians who buy houses in Alanya rent their houses illegally before coming to Turkey. They use mainly Russian sites for renting. There are Whatsapp and Telegram groups that they have set up just for this topic. Unfortunately, the sector in Alanya has fallen into the hands of the Russians, to a certain extent.”
COMPLAINTS SENT TO CIMER WITHOUT ANY POSITIVE RESULTS
Explaining that they reported the complaints to CIMER and the security members, Erbaş said that the security members could not take action if they could not find someone at the relevant address.
INSPECTIONS SHOULD BE INCREASED
Stating that the inspections should be increased, Erbaş said, “The relevant units in such incidents are provincial directorates. Alanya is a very large district whose population of 40 thousand increases to 1 million in summer. Antalya is 130 kilometers from Alanya. Should Antalya control Alanya or other regions? It is necessary to take steps on this issue urgently.”
