A New Era for Fethiye Traffic

Fethiye, the tourism paradise of Muğla, has been struggling with increasing traffic congestion and parking shortages. Now, major projects are on the horizon to bring lasting solutions. Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca shared details about the new bus terminal, multi-storey car park, and alternative road projects.

Modern Bus Terminal Planned for Çamköy

Mayor Karaca announced that the new Fethiye Bus Terminal will be relocated beneath the Çamköy Market area. With 8,000 square meters already expropriated by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and another 17,000 to follow, the modern terminal will soon take shape.
Due to budget measures, the project is expected to begin within two years. Located along the ring road, the terminal will stand as one of the most modern transport facilities in the region and will even generate its own energy.

Multi-Storey Car Park for 1,500 Vehicles

To address the chronic parking problem, a new car park project has been approved by the ministry. Once the planning process is complete, construction will begin on a five-storey facility, including two underground and three above-ground levels.
With capacity for 1,000 to 1,500 vehicles, the car park will significantly ease congestion in the town center. Free electric shuttle services will connect the car park to the marketplace, ensuring smooth access for residents and visitors.

Alternative Roads and Smart Junctions

Mayor Karaca also underlined new road projects to relieve summer traffic pressure. For the Hillside – Kayaköy route, official permissions have already been secured. With approval to widen the road by five meters, traffic from the peninsula will be redirected, minimizing vehicle entry into the town center.

A Three-Year Plan for Relief

Karaca emphasized that within three years, the combination of the new terminal, car park, alternative routes, and smart junction systems will dramatically reduce Fethiye’s traffic burden, bringing comfort to both locals and tourists.
