Mandatory “winter-tire” application will start on December 1

The requirement to use winter tires for commercial vehicles will start as of December 1.

Mandatory winter tire application will start on December 1. Within the scope of the regulations of the Ministry of Transport all commercial vehicles are obliged to use winter tires during the period between December 1 and April 1. For private cars, the use of winter tires is recommended, although it is not a legal obligation.

Businesses that do not install winter tires on their vehicles although mandatory, will be fined 1,152 liras for the year 2022. The penalty for not wearing winter tires will be updated as of January 1, 2023 within the framework of the revaluation rate to be announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
