HOT WEATHER IN TURKEY

Meteorological Specialist Cengiz Çelik from the General Directorate of Meteorology reported that temperatures are expected to drop during the weekend when the holiday begins. Çelik stated, “We anticipate a 4 to 6-degree decrease in temperatures over the weekend due to rain coming from the north. We expect temperatures across the country to approach seasonal norms,” he said.

Çelik provided an assessment of the expected temperatures for Eid al-Adha, noting that the current temperatures are 6 to 10 degrees above the seasonal averages. He said, “This will continue until the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, we expect a 4 to 6-degree drop in temperatures with the arrival of cool and rainy weather from the Black Sea region. We can say that temperatures will approach seasonal norms across the country.”

Rainfall Forecasts

– Friday: Rain showers are expected in the Marmara and Western Black Sea regions.

– Saturday: Showers will continue in the eastern Marmara and general Black Sea regions.

– Sunday onwards: Intermittent showers will be seen mostly in the Black Sea and northern Eastern Anatolia regions.

Clear Skies in the West and South:

Çelik mentioned that next week, intermittent showers would be observed in the northern and eastern regions, while the western and southern regions would mostly experience clear and partly cloudy skies. He added, “For the Eid al-Adha period, a detailed weather report will be available on Thursday or Friday, and it would be useful to follow the latest updates from there.”

No Heavy Rain Expected

Highlighting that no heavy rain is anticipated over the weekend and the following week, Çelik said, “The western, central, and southern regions are expected to be mostly clear and partly cloudy during the weekend and next week. Temperatures will hover around seasonal averages, sometimes 2 to 4 degrees above.”

Reflecting on the previous weeks, he mentioned the occurrence of strong thunderstorms in the central regions, including the western inland regions, inner Aegean, Central Anatolia, and inland parts of the Black Sea. However, such severe rain is not expected in the coming days. Local showers are expected intermittently, particularly in the Black Sea region and eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia.

Temperature Drop from the Weekend

Currently, temperatures are around 34-35 degrees Celsius. Çelik said, “From the weekend onwards, we expect a 5-6 degree drop in Ankara’s temperatures. In Istanbul, the highest temperatures will drop to 27-28 degrees over the weekend. In İzmir, where the current temperature is 42 degrees, it will decrease to 35-36 degrees over the weekend.”
