Meteorology Warns Region by Region: Beware of Heavy Rain! (Weather Forecast for November 16, 2024)

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued its latest weather report for Saturday, November 16, 2024. Heavy rainfall is expected across the Marmara region, northern and western parts of the Aegean, northern and eastern parts of Central Anatolia, coastal areas of the Western Mediterranean, the Iskenderun Gulf and Taurus Mountains in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as in the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia regions. 

The rainfall is expected to manifest as showers and occasional thunderstorms in coastal areas, rain in inland regions, and sleet or snow at higher altitudes in the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia (above 2,200 meters). 

Rainfall in the western parts of the Aegean, the eastern coasts of the Western Black Sea, and the coasts of the Central and Eastern Black Sea is expected to be locally heavy. 

TEMPERATURE 

Temperatures are expected to decrease by 2 to 4 degrees in areas other than the Mediterranean coast. No significant change is expected along the Mediterranean coast. 

WARNING FOR HEAVY RAIN 

Due to the expected locally heavy rainfall in the western parts of the Aegean, the eastern coasts of the Western Black Sea, and the coasts of the Central and Eastern Black Sea, residents are advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against potential adverse conditions. 

REGIONAL WEATHER OUTLOOK 

MARMARA 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent showers expected. Winds are predicted to be occasionally strong (40-60 km/h) from the northeast. 

AEGEAN 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with showers expected across the region and thunderstorms along the coast. Heavy local rainfall is expected around Izmir. 

MEDITERRANEAN 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms forecast for Antalya, Adana, Osmaniye, eastern Mersin, and coastal areas of Hatay. 

CENTRAL ANATOLIA 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with rain and showers expected in the eastern parts of the region, as well as around Eskişehir and southern and western parts of Ankara. 

 WESTERN BLACK SEA 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent rain and showers across the region. Heavy local rainfall is expected in the eastern coastal areas. 

CENTRAL AND EASTERN BLACK SEA 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent showers expected along the coast, locally heavy in some areas. The inland regions (except Çorum) are expected to experience rain, while higher altitudes may see sleet or snow. 

EASTERN ANATOLIA 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with rain and showers expected. Higher altitudes (above 2,200 meters) may see sleet or snow. 

SOUTHEASTERN ANATOLIA 

Partly to mostly cloudy, with showers expected in northern parts of Diyarbakır after noon.
