SCIENCE BOARD OF TURKEY

After the Science Board meeting today, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced opening of vaccine appointments for children older than 12 years and with chronic diseases. He also said “3 doses of inactive vaccine protects better.”

The coronavirus Science Board convened today under the chairmanship of Health Minister Fahrettin Koca. Virus measures and vaccination efforts were on the agenda of the meeting. After the meeting, Health Minister Koca made statements.

Fahrettin Koca said that they had evaluated the effectiveness of the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine, the measures to be taken in schools and the vaccine program. He went on to say: “Our Science Board has prepared a study guide containing the measures necessary to open our schools safely. We will make this preparation ready for implementation in consultation with our Ministry of Education and Higher Education Council presidency.”

He said, “However, vaccine identification has also been made for our children over 12 years of age and with chronic disease. 3 doses of inactive vaccine protects better.”

“FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING AND ITS CONTINUITY ARE OUR ONLY GOALS”

The Minister said, “Today, at our Coronavirus Science Board meeting, we held a meeting that discussed the results of our vaccine effectiveness analysis, the measures to be taken in schools, our vaccine program and the measures to be followed. Our Science Board has prepared a study guide containing the measures necessary to safely open our schools. We will make this preparation ready for implementation in consultation with our Ministry of Education and Higher Education Council. As I mentioned earlier, face-to-face education in our schools and continuity of this is our only goal.

“MUTATIONS DO NOT CAUSE CHANGES IN MEASURES”

I have already stated that we will watch a lot of news about mutations and variants, a lot of information will be shared, but this should not be the main agenda of our citizen. We recognize the virus, our treatment methods are improving every day, and our vaccine program is successfully continuing. At the same time, we monitor all changes to the virus and regularly check whether it has an impact on our combat policy. But as I mentioned earlier, the virus is expected to mutate, and these mutations do not cause a change in measures. The virus is the same virus and the ways of transmission are the same ways. So the measures are the same. There is no change in the measures we will follow until immunity is obtained with the vaccine.”
