SUNFLOWER OIL TURKEY STOCKS

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry KIRISCI denied the claim that Turkey has a stockpile of sunflower oil for 1-1.5 months. After the Russian invasion operation against Ukraine, it was forecasted Turkey would have problems with sunflower oil imports from this country, and there was an expectation hikes to follow.

In many cities, citizens went to grocery stores and bought oil as they thought would face price increases. Some grocery stores were accused of keeping oil stocks in warehouses, while others had run out of oil.

Sharing on his Twitter account, the minister said “the information shared saying there is not enough stock in basic food products such as sunflower oil is not true”.

He went on to say, “Necessary measures have been taken. Our country has a sufficient stock of sunflower oil. Do not take such unfounded claims into consideration. There is no cause for concern.”
