Ship polluting the Gulf of Izmit fined 1.6 million Turkish lira
A ship which was found to have polluted the Gulf of Izmit, was fined 1 million 624 thousand 713 liras.
During routine inspections by seaplane, the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality found that a dry cargo ship in the port in the district of Başiskele polluted the sea during the purchase of fuel.
The municipal team went to the region with the port authorities to prevent fuel from flowing further into the sea.
The foreign-flagged vessel was fined under the Environmental Code.
