Minister Şimşek: Inflation Expectations Are Gradually Improving

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek said “While inflation remains high, it has been decreasing, and inflation expectations are improving, though at a slow pace”.

Şimşek was speaking at a panel during a conference jointly organized by the IMF and Saudi Arabia in Al Ula. He emphasized that inflation was still high, but it was on the decline, and inflation expectations were gradually improving.

“Nothing can replace good policies,” Şimşek said. “What matters is sound policies and their proper implementation. We believe that with a combination of tight monetary policy, even tighter fiscal policy, and a more supportive income policy, disinflation will continue this year.”
