Ministry of Treasury and Finance intensifies inspections on coastal areas

Teams from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will intensify on-site inspections in the entertainment and accommodation sectors in the holiday resorts of Antalya, Muğla, and İzmir. Additionally, inspections will be conducted on properties rented on a daily basis.

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance will ramp up inspections of frequently used businesses in tourism destinations, especially during the summer period in Antalya, Muğla, and İzmir.

Teams from the Revenue Administration, under the Ministry, have scheduled these inspections in line with the start of the tourism season.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek emphasized the importance of combating the informal economy, stating, “Necessary actions will be taken based on the results obtained. Our fight against the informal economy will continue uncompromisingly and robustly.”

During the summer months, inspections will be carried out in tourism destinations, particularly in Antalya, Muğla, and İzmir.

To this end, hundreds of additional inspection personnel have been assigned to Antalya, İzmir, and Muğla. On-site inspections will be conducted at nightclubs, yacht tourism spots, beach clubs, as well as hotels and pensions. Restaurants and businesses on busy streets and avenues will also be included in the inspections.

TEAMS TO FOCUS ON RENTAL PROPERTIES AS WELL

The Revenue Administration teams will focus on daily rental properties during these inspections

Analyses regarding summer rentals for the year 2023 will also be conducted, and taxpayers believed to have earned income from these rentals will be invited to explain their situation and be encouraged to voluntarily comply with the declaration process.

Additionally, inspections will be carried out on taxpayers who have obtained permits for daily rentals from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as on vacant properties with potential for daily rental.
