Muğla Hosted 3.46 Million Foreign Tourists Last Year
One of Turkey’s Leading Tourism Destinations
Muğla, one of Turkey’s most prominent tourism hubs, welcomed approximately 3 million 461 thousand foreign tourists in 2025, arriving by both air and sea. With its long coastline, rich history, and world-famous holiday resorts, the city once again stood out as a favorite destination for international visitors.
Known for having Turkey’s longest coastline at 1,484 kilometers, Muğla attracts travelers with its natural beauty, ancient cities, and well-developed tourism infrastructure. The province offers around 400,000 beds across a wide range of accommodation facilities, serving both domestic and international guests throughout the year.
Diverse Tourism Opportunities Across the Province
Muğla offers a wide variety of tourism experiences through districts such as Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Datça, Ortaca, Milas, and Ula. These destinations provide everything from beach holidays centered on sea, sand, and sun to cultural and nature-based tourism. As a result, Muğla remains one of the most popular holiday addresses for travelers seeking both relaxation and exploration.
Strong International Interest in Muğla
Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Hüseyin Toprak stated that Muğla continues to host tourists from many countries thanks to its strong international appeal. He emphasized that visitors are welcomed with high standards of hospitality and highlighted that Muğla stands out not only for its beaches and climate, but also for its historical heritage, natural landscapes, ancient cities, and luxury accommodation facilities.
Toprak noted that visitor numbers had declined during the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Muğla Governor’s Office, the province experienced a very successful tourism season in 2025.
650,000 Visitors Arrived by Sea
According to official figures, 3,461,311 tourists visited Muğla in 2025. The largest group of visitors came from the United Kingdom, followed by tourists from Russia, Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands. In addition to foreign guests, the city also hosted nearly twice as many domestic tourists.
Visitors explored Muğla’s bays, ancient cities, beaches, and natural landscapes, while approximately 650,000 foreign tourists arrived by sea. Authorities expect this number to increase further in the coming years.
Growing Markets and Future Expectations
Toprak underlined that British tourists, as in previous years, did not give up on Muğla in 2025. He added that there was also strong demand from Russia and Germany, while Poland has emerged as a rapidly growing market, with Polish tourists now choosing Muğla on a regular basis.
He pointed out that Poland’s interest in Muğla is similar to that of the British market and expects visitor numbers from Poland to continue rising in the coming years.
Promotion Efforts Boost Global Visibility
Emphasizing Turkey’s ongoing success in tourism, Toprak stated that the country continues to break records every year, and Muğla benefits significantly from this growth. Thanks to international promotion activities carried out by the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency, both Turkey and Muğla have gained greater global recognition, directly contributing to rising tourist numbers.
Looking ahead, Toprak explained that efforts will focus on attracting visitors from different countries, increasing overall tourist numbers, and extending the tourism season. Alongside dynamic markets, new target markets will be reached through an intensive promotion campaign.
He also noted that many restaurants in Muğla hold prestigious star ratings, which further capture the attention of international tourists and enhance the destination’s appeal.
