At a time of increasing tension between the two NATO countries, NATO has decided to take action. It was reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg who spoke to Athens on the phone the previous day, would come to Turkey to ease the tension and call for sobriety.

Stoltenberg who is expected to be in Ankara later this week, will hold several meetings and make attempts to prevent the two NATO member states from engaging in further conflict. Stoltenberg had spoken on the phone with Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Micotakis the previous day about the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

As tensions rise in the Eastern Mediterranean, the NATO Secretary General urged Turkey and Greece to resolve their issues in a spirit of “allied solidarity”.
