NATO Summit Declaration: Nato calls on some countries, to cease their support for Russia in Ukraine

The final declaration of the 75th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit held in the United States included a promise of increased support for Ukraine against Russia and called on countries, particularly China, to cease their support for Russia in Ukraine.

The NATO summit, which has been ongoing for two days in Washington D.C., has released its final declaration. The final declaration used very clear language.

The declaration stated that the alliance will continue to support Ukraine “on an irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership,” and that allies plan to provide a minimum of 40 billion euros ($43.28 billion) in military aid funding to Ukraine within the next year.

BELARUS, CHINA, IRAN, AND…

The declaration called on all countries to refrain from assisting Russia in Ukraine in any way, explicitly naming Belarus, North Korea, Iran, and China, stating, “We condemn anyone facilitating and thus prolonging Russia’s war in Ukraine.”

The declaration characterized China as a “definitive facilitator” of Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine and noted that Beijing continues to pose systemic challenges to Euro-Atlantic security.

The declaration called on China to stop providing material and political support for Russia’s efforts in Ukraine and expressed concerns about the rapid expansion of China’s space capabilities and nuclear arsenal.

The declaration called on Beijing to engage in strategic risk reduction talks and urged China to cease all support for Russia in its conflict with Ukraine.

The declaration stated, “As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the People’s Republic of China has a special responsibility to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and we call on it to stop all material and political support for Russia’s war efforts.”
