New Ferry Route from Fethiye to Rhodes: A Summer Journey Begins

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality is kicking off a brand new international ferry line from Fethiye to Rhodes Island, and it all starts on May 31. This new route is being launched in partnership with Istanbul Sea Buses, known as İDO.
So what does this mean? Basically, you can now hop on a fast and comfy sea bus in Fethiye and be in Rhodes the same day. It’s a big step not just for easier travel, but also for boosting the local tourism scene.
Why is this important? First off, Rhodes is a popular destination, and now it’s just a short ride away. Plus, thanks to Greece’s “visa at the door” policy during summer, Turkish citizens can visit without needing a full Schengen visa. That makes things so much easier if you’ve been dreaming of a quick Greek getaway.
Organized by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality in collaboration with Istanbul Sea Buses (İDO) and its subsidiary MUTTAŞ, these international sea bus routes launched on May 31, 2025, and will run regularly throughout the summer season.
Schedule
- May 31 – September 30, 2025: Daily round-trip services between Fethiye and Rhodes.
- Departures from Fethiye at 08:30 AM, returns from Rhodes at 05:30 PM the same day.
Tickets & Booking: Tickets are already available for purchase. For schedules, ticket prices, and reservations, visit the official İDO website at www.ido.com.tr.
Visa Info: Thanks to Greece’s summer “visa at the door” policy, Turkish citizens can visit Rhodes without a Schengen visa, making travel simpler and more accessible.
Statement from Mayor Ahmet Aras
Muğla Mayor Ahmet Aras emphasized that the new route will significantly contribute to regional tourism and strengthen Muğla’s international connections. He highlighted that their goal is to ensure safe, fast, and comfortable travel options across all transport modes—land, sea, and air.
If you’re planning a summer getaway, this new Fethiye–Rhodes sea route is a great opportunity for a quick and scenic international trip.
