According to the latest news; Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin has announced that they have agreed to extend the Grain Corridor Agreement for another 60 days.

A meeting was held between the United Nations (UN) and Russia on the extension of the Grain Corridor Agreement in Geneva, Switzerland. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, representing Russia, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Secretary-General Rebecca Greenspan attended the meeting on behalf of Russia.

“As the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we have just held a new round of consultations with the UN delegation headed by Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary General of the Conference on Trade and Development, and Martin Griffiths, Emergency Relief Coordinator,” Vershinin informed the Russian press after the first round of talks.

“Russia does not object to extending this agreement once again after the end of the second period on March 18, but only for 60 days,” Vershinin said, noting that they had accepted UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ offer to extend the agreement for another 60 days, expiring on March 18.

Vershinin also pointed out that the agreement operates unilaterally due to the embargoes imposed on Russia and stated that the easing of sanctions is not enough for the full implementation of the agreement.

The agreement was last extended for 120 days
