The customer profile which has been changing in every field for a while, has accelerated with the pandemic. The development in this area is also happening in the field of accommodation. New trends (trends) that will rival airbnb are being considered in the field of accommodation and they are developing fast. Sonder stands out as the rising trend in the accommodation sector just like Hobbit, Tiny House, Glamping and Bungalow accommodation.

‘HOTEL THAT’S NOT A HOTEL’: SONDER

Sonder one of the rising trends of accommodation, is defined as “a hotel that is not a hotel is better accommodation”.

THE SONDER SYSTEM IS COMING TO ISTANBUL

Sonder system, one of the rising trends of accommodation, was established in Montreal, Canada in 2014. The system operates in 35 cities of nine countries.

Hakan Kodal, who brought the Sonder system to Portugal, will now bring it to Istanbul. Kodal will turn the red building in the Tomtom Neighborhood of Beyoğlu into one of Sonder’s Ando Living clubs.

Hakan Kodal says that the “serviced apartment” has risen in accommodation, adding “Think of this model as a lego. Apartments close to each other in the same neighborhood and complementing them, socializing clubs that bring people together. People don’t want to stay at a hotel anymore. They want to stay like a local, to live in the neighborhood. This trend has two or three companies in the world. One of them is Sonder. People want to socialize where they go, to join the local community. This is where the idea of Ando Living came from.

By the end of next year, there will be three clubs in Lisbon and a total of five in Portugal. We currently have 600 rented apartments in Portugal as Ando Living. Our goal is to open 20 Ando Living clubs in 8 countries. Istanbul is next and there are Spain, Greece and Dubai,.”

WHAT IS SONDER, HOW DOES IT WORK?

Sonder, one of the rising trends of accommodation, is described as a “non-hotel hotel”. Sonder rents or buys housing from the owners and rents them to clients. So there is no connection between customers and landlords, the interlocutor is Sonder.
