New Statues Discovered in Laodicea Ancient City

In the ongoing excavations at Laodicea Ancient City in Denizli, statues of the Skylla group have been found. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that “unique and colorful” Skylla Group statues had been discovered during the restoration works of the stage building, carried out under the “Heritage to the Future Laodicea Project” in Denizli.
In his social media post, Ersoy noted that the “Heritage to the Future” initiative, one of the most comprehensive and ambitious projects in Turkish archaeology, continued to bear fruit.

Minister Ersoy shared the following:
– During the restoration works of the stage building under the Heritage to the Future Laodicea Project, unique and colorful Skylla Group statues were discovered. These extraordinary statues are quite significant as they reflect the baroque style of the Hellenistic Period and have reached us with their original colors.
Ersoy also thanked the excavation team working on the project.
