Turkish FM Davutoğlu says “We are at the point of no return’ on Kurdish issue”

On the way back home to Turkey from Brussels where he was for Nato meetings Foreign Minister Davutoğlu made some critical statements.

Referring to the issue of an eventual back-down by either of the parties involved in the peace process, Davutoğlu emphasized that “the risk” in such case would not be for the government only but for the “organization” as well. Davutoğlu clearly emphasized that both parties had already covered much distance not to consider a likely back down and would on the contrary make all the effort necessary to make it to the end.

Spokesman says Turkey would choose Cyprus

Turkish Parliament Speaker Cicek who met with Hasan Bozer, the Parliament Speaker of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday said “If EU asked Turkey to pick either EU membership or Cyprus, we would go for Cyprus”.

The spokesman also emphasized that Cyprus was of special importance to Turkey and the Turkish part were happy to discuss various issues and exchange ideas with his Turkish Cypriot counterpart.

Treatment in Turkey for half the price in EU

Speaking at The 20th International Biotechnology Congress and Fair Müezzinoğlu (Minister of Health) announced that a major U.S. firm had decided to invest in Turkey. The minister also said that if Turkey’s health tourism industry grew it would contribute to the budget to cover the deficit in pharmaceuticals and added “Health tourism is the most strategic area to allow us to close the budget deficit.”

Müezzinoğlu stated that treatment in Turkey was half the price of its equivalent in Europe and emphasized that Turkey had a high potential in health tourism. He also referred to the support offered to pharmaceutical firms investing in Turkey.

Thousands commemorate fallen Anzacs in Gelibolu

Thousands to include many from Australia gathered at a ceremony in Gelibolu Peninsula to commemorate fallen soldiers from Australia and New Zealand in Canakkale Battles in WW1

The service attended by thousands of Australians and New Zealanders to commemorate their ancestors who died in the Canakkale Campaigns of the First World War, started  in Gallipoli (Turkey’s northwestern Gelibolu Peninsula) at dawn on Thursday.

Turkey announces foreigners can obtain visas online

Turkey has announced that foreign citizens planning to visit Turkey will now be able to obtain their visas online through an electronic visa application system (e-Visa) launched on April 17.

Based on the new system applications can be paid online which will provide the travelers with the comfort of applying for a visa to Turkey from their home or Office. It is also noted that the new system will reduce the workload of Turkey’s overseas missions.
