Deputy PM Arınç: New legislation for jailed journalists to come soon

A new law that will decriminalize the creation and publication of propaganda that does not encourage violence will be discussed soon and journalists imprisoned on these charges may be released in line with the new law, Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç said today in the German capital of Berlin.

PM Erdoğan says “If women want, fight will end”

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appealed to women, especially mothers, to lend their support to the resolution of Turkey’s Kurdish issue, proclaiming that women’s input was necessary for the eventual success of the process.

Most popular women of Turkey revealed by Media Monitoring Center

A study carried out by Turkey’s MTM has revealed the most popular women of Turkey, with Family and Social Policies Minister Fatma Şahin topping the list in all categories, while Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Gültan Kışanak followed her in second place. Tansu Çiller (former PM), Ümit Boyner (former Tusiad Chairwoman) also ranked among top 10.

Turkey determined to boost 2-way investment with Turkmenistan

Turkey will ease restrictions on Turkmen entrepreneurs for their investments in Turkey, Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz said yesterday during The Fifth International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan held in Istanbul. The move will aim to boost two-way investments with Turkmenistan, as Turkey’s contractors already make up the largest portion of all worldwide investments in Turkmenistan, at 19 percent.

Turkish manages to cope with inflation through February

Turkey’s inflation for February rose by 0.3 percent from the previous month, slightly below the market expectations, but sector players say the long-term risks of inflation are likely to remain. The 12-month average inflation rate amounted to 8.33 percent as of February, official data released today by Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) showed. The year-on-year figure moved up to 7.03 percent.

Defense industry actors get together in Ankara

The first BtoB (business to business) event in Turkey, the Ankara Industrial Cooperation Days in Defense and Aerospace (ICDDA), will start tomorrow and end by March 8. The event, organized by Turkey’s Defense and Aviation Cluster (OSSA Ostim) is considered to be an opportunity for leaders in the aerospace industry to meet potential industry partners.
