Erdoğan slams Israel for  air raid on Syria

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is reported to have to said lawmakers in parliament the Israeli air raids on Syria were “unacceptable”.

Erdoğan also said “No excuse can justify this operation” referring to weekend strikes on the Syria and drew attention that such action would only contribute to rising of the political tension in the region.

Davutoğlu holds phone conversation with US Secretary Kerry

Prior to his visit to Russia, US Foreign Secretary Kerry is reported to have called Davutoglu to make a situation assessment, focusing on the Syrian issue.

Turkish FM drew attention to Turkey’s response in regards to the massacre in the Syrian province of Banias and reminded that the international society should take action to stop killings inSyria.

US Secretary expressed that USA were concerned about the recent developments in Syria adding he would work on the issue in detail during his Russia visit.

Trial for series of neeo-Nazi murders in Germany begins

The trial for a series of neo-Nazi murders in Germany, in which eight out of ten victims were Turks, began in Munich on Monday. Yesterday’s trial witnessed tension and protests outside of the courthouse.  The trial is considered to be one of the most anticipated court cases in the recent history of Germany.

38-year-old Beate Zschaepe is charged with complicity in the murder of eight Turks, a Greek and a policewoman in Germany between the years 2000-2007.

The victims friends and relatives came face to face with chief suspect the “Nazi Bride” Beate Zschaepe, for the first time.

Turkey’s President pessimistic about the future of new Constitution

President Gül is reported to evaluate the recent situation about the drafting efforts for a new Constitution as “saddening”. It is known that despite efforts from all parties no solid improvement has been achieved so far opn the way to agreeing and forming a new Constitution for the Republic of Turkey.

Gül who talked to a group of journalists traveling with him to Portugal for a state visit at the invitation of Portuguese President said only amendments to the current Constitution would be possible in this legislative term.

US Ambassador says Turkish-American relations will grow in trade

Francis Ricciardone US Ambassador to Turkey has made statement saying Turkish-American relations will grow in the trade sector, as well.

Ricciardone who attended 11th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF’ 13) and opened the American booth there commented that the booths had risen 25% in 2013 when compared to previous year. He said that this pointed out to the growth the trade relations between 2 countries. He visited the American booths before the opening of the fair and gathered information from the company officials.

Galatasaray Sports Club has won their 19th Turkish league title on Sunday, May 5th

Galatasaray have displayed a very successful performance in 2012-2013 season also reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Fans of the club filled the streets all over the country as well as abroad, sounding car horns, setting off flares and waving flags in the club’s red-and-yellow colors as they sang in the city’s squares.
