Turkish “Arms Industry” draws attention at the International Defense Industry Fair

Turkish “arms” producers have displayed their products to potential buyers from both home and abroad at International Defense Industry Fair, this year. In the past it was weapons makers from the western world who closed big sales to Turkish buyers. This year however it has been so easy to see the big jump Turkey’s defense industry has made in recent years as one can see many local professionals from the sector now looking to sell goods displayed at the fair, rather than buy.

PKK pullout starts with controversies

In compliance to the agreement between Turkish administration and outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party 1,500 militants are expected to begin retreating from Turkish territories into northern Iraq, today. It is reported that the complete withdrawal will not be accomplished earlier than 3 months.

On the other hand Turkish PM Erdoğan has expressed once again that the PKK militants should leave their arms behind, during said withdrawal.

Davutoglu: Turkey will follow chemical weapons issue in Syria closely

Speaking to reporters in London, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is reported to have stated on Tuesday that using chemical weapons is a crime against humanity

Davutoglu who participated in an international conference on Somalia on Tuesday said reports suggesting that opposition forces in Syria might have used chemical weapons caused “information pollution”. He added that UN officials he spoke to earlier on the same day had confirmed that those reports were incorrect.

Erdoğan will have “Free Trade Agreement” on his agenda during his trip to USA

It is reported that the signing of a Free Trade Agreement will be the main item on the agenda during Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s May 16th meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington.

It is also reported that Turkey will also be suggesting to the U.S. to lift the taxes and establish a customs union.

Davutoğlu meets with leaders at Somalia conference in London

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet DAVUTOGLU held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of an international conference on Somalia in London on Tuesday.

DAVUTOGLU is reported to have met with British Foreign Secretary  William Hague and Mark Simmonds (parliamentary undersecretary of state for the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs), who is also in charge of Somalia and Africa, also attended the meeting in which latest developments in Somalia and the horn of Africa were discussed.
