Number of tourists visiting Antalya exceeds 5 million since January, this year

It is reported that the number of tourists who came to Antalya has  exceeded 5 million, Since January this year. Antalya Governor’s office shared that 2021 tourism results were pleasing.  In a statement, the governor’s office said that the number of tourists arriving in the city by air had exceeded 5 million.

In 2019, when the tourism sector peaked all over the world, Antalya hosted 16 million tourists. It was also noted that during the pandemic the number of tourists arriving by 2020 had increased by 253 percent.

During January – 27 August period of 2020, the city had received 1 million 428 thousand 943 tourists from abroad. During the same period of current year the number of tourists arriving by air increased by 253 percent, reaching 5 million 50 thousand (approx.) On a monthly basis, the increase was 146 percent. According to same data, between August 1 – 27 last year, the number of tourists arriving by air was 672 thousand 424, while this year the number of tourists arriving between the same dates was 1 million 656 thousand 19.Dec. Dec. Thus, the number of tourists coming to the city by air increased by 146 percent on a monthly basis compared to last year.”

Most tourists from Russia

The governor’s statement also said Russia took the first place among countries sending highest number of tourists to Turkey since January this year, with 34.61 percent. Ukraine followed with 20.59 and Germany with 11.95.
