Mehmet Nane, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Pegasus Airlines, stated that cost items, except personnel, were based on foreign currency and said, “The perception that ticket prices have risen is wrong, currently air ticket prices are very low, they should be higher.”

Mehmet Nane, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Pegasus Airlines and Chairman of the International Air Transport Association, said on a television show he attended that there was a false perception that ticket prices were rising, and that current prices were too low.

Reminding that the ceiling price of the plane ticket was 1100 TL, Nane said, “As Pegasus, our average price is around 550 TL excluding VAT and tax. At the moment, prices are very low, they should be higher. All expenses of airlines, except for personnel, are based on foreign currency. When you look at it like this, in order to minimize the damage, airlines in Turkey have reduced their domestic lines to a certain extent.”

Nane, who also stated that the plane occupancy rate should be 85 percent in order to cover the costs of a line flown for 356 days domestically as Pegasus, said, “If there is a higher occupancy rate, you make a profit. That is the situation.”
