Petkim.. A Turkish giant in petrochemicals

PETKIMPetkim, Turkey’s only producer of petrochemicals exports its products such as benzene, C4, AYPE, P-X and pygas to 60 countries in the world.

Petkim is the second largest exporter of Turkey in chemical industry. Founded in 1965, it has been operating modern facilities in Izmir Aliağa, since 1985. In a campus on an area of more than 1900 hectares there are 15 major production plants and 8 auxiliary facilities.

Naphtha, LPG, C4, condensate, olefins and polyolefins, vinyl chain, aromatic and other basic chemicals are among main production items of the company.

Net sales of Petkim was 2 billion 57 million TL in 2009 and domestic market share was 26 percent. The company provides 26 percent of its turnover from exports.

Petkim has adopted the vision of becoming a regional power in petrochemicals sector and plans to implement clustering model in which there are local and foreign investors and complete the Petkim value-site Project by 2023, 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic. Thus the company targets to be named among the largest production centers in Europe.

The goal is to turn the Petkim peninsula into one of the best examples of privatization and thus benefit from much better competitive advantages in global markets.

Petkim had a capacity utilization rate of 91 percent in 2009 and made a USD 70 million environment and energy efficient investment to maximize its capacity utilization and reduce cost, in following period. Thus the target has been to reach 96 percent capacity utilization, ensure production and profit maximization, increase its domestic market share not only through production but also exports and trading of petrochemicals.

Minimum of 2,000 MW power generation

10 thousand employees with the supplier industry
USD 5 billion added value to Turkish economy
