Politics in Turkey – KILICDAROGLU: “Turkey may hold an early election at any moment”

CHP Chairman Kemal KILICDAROGLU answered questions about “the criticism against his alliance policy, discussions about change in the CHP and the local elections to be held in 2024. Kılıçdaroğlu, also evaluated whether there was a possibility of early elections in Turkey and said, “Turkey may hold an early election at any moment. We must be prepared in all circumstances.”

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), said, “Turkey may hold an early election at any moment. We must be prepared in all circumstances,” he said.

Kılıçdaroğlu answered questions from media of about the change agenda in the CHP and the criticisms against him after the critical 2023 elections.

Answering the question about being shown/blamed as the sole responsible after the election defeat, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “I am ready to take any responsibility … But it is unacceptable for criticism to reach the dimension of insult. I have no moral weakness to criticize the friends we set out together in public.”

Kılıçdaroğlu,”Is there a possibility of an early election in Turkey? Can the government continue uninterrupted for 5 years?”to his question, “Turkey may hold an early election at any moment. We must be prepared in all circumstances…” he replied.

Of course, there are many reasons why the election cannot be won. What do you think is the breaking point? Or if you count the three most important reasons, what would you highlight?

I don’t want to look back and get into such discussions… but I can say this; this election has no moral and political legitimacy. It is an election won by Erdogan by using the state’s budget and bureaucracy, and even more painfully, by committing frauds. The person who will become president should at least not commit fraud and should not use the fraud as election material. Morality requires it… Therefore, the palace power (the administration) has no moral and political legitimacy.
