President ERDOGAN announces new regulation on electricity bills

The cabinet convened today under the chairmanship of the President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Bekir Bozdag, who replaced Abdulhamit Gul, who resigned from the Ministry of Justice, also attended the meeting for the first time.

DEVELOPMENTS AT HOME AND ABROAD WERE DISCUSSED

On the foreign agenda of the cabinet were the tensions between Russia and Ukraine which Ankara offered to mediate and also normalization talks with Armenia.

During the meeting which lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes, the details of the visits of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli President Yitzak Herzog to Turkey were also discussed.

The number of corona virus cases exceeding 90 thousand per day, new steps that could be taken to increase the vaccination rate and other developments at home were on the cabinet’s agenda. In addition, the meeting also discussed proposals to reduce VAT on various items, especially basic foodstuffs.

DISCOUNT ON ELECTRICITY TARIFF

President ERDOGAN also announced new regulation on electricity bills with discounted tariff, after cabinet meeting. He said; “We are increasing the monthly consumption quota on electricity bills from 150 kilowatts to 210 kilowatts.”
